About Us

The initial cornerstone of Tarkhineh Food Factory was laid in 1963. For the provision of natural foodstuff with high fiber, the late Reza-Gholi Aliabadi Benisi managed to purchase primary cereals peeling machinery, operated with diesel engine, through following up sales advertisement.

He embarked on installing the machinery and started working with the help of his children and with the facilities possessed on Sirous Street, between Bouzar Jomhouri and Old Sarcheshmeh streets as a business location.

The raw materials were carried to the factory site by farmers and/or brokers through Amin al-Soltan Square with old transport device (cart and animals) and then production process was carried out.

The purchased barley was first washed up with the aim of taking impurities and after being dried at the open air, the other part of impurities was taken by the sift manually.

Then, husk was separated from seed by peeling machinery and the husk was taken out from barley by another sift. The prepared barley was hit the market at vacant gunnysacks, which had been prepared before, weighing 50 kg.

Generally, all production and marketing affairs were carried out by the family members.

Moreover producing peeled barley and bran, other tiny seeds were produced from peeling operation which was hit the consumer market as a barley kernel with rescrubbing operation.

The said process lasted approx. three years. With the expanded production and increased demand for buying prepared barley, the site was changed from residential to trade location, based on which, the municipality of the district requested receiving license as prerequisite for the continuation of business activity.

After consecutive follow ups and correspondences made by the late Reza-Gholi Aliabadi, he managed to receive Cereals Peeling License in 1967.

With due observance to the increased demand and need to offer product in small size, it was decided to pack barley in 500-gr weight.

For owning trademark, the design and box of the peeled barley was modeled which had been imported previously from the U.S. to Iran in 500-gr packs and then, the word "Barley" was selected as a trademark (brand name).

Finally, the same design was printed and published at production boxes of the country.

The boxes were first packed manually and with glue. Gunnysacks, weighing 50 kg, were filled and tied with thread manually and then were dispatched to applicant. Sales growth and demand forced us to negotiate with the company named "Alvico" under management of Mr. Yousefzadeh, considered as the sole representative of importing Russian-made flour mold machinery. When the device was purchased and installed, production volume was increased.

Dire need to power consumption and also extreme noise of equipment and machinery caused people to lodge their complaint against the factory incessantly and obstructed continuation of our activity.

Therefore, we requested municipality of the district and also the then organizations to give us opportunity to relocate the factory.

A parcel of land, as large as 1,300 square meters at km 22 of Tehran-Karaj Road (from the previous location i.e. Enghelab Square to the current location) was provided and necessary ground was prepared to relocate the factory.

Correspondences started for receiving license from the then Industries Ministry which was based in South Angle of current Justice Administration, located at Arg Square.

Eventually, relocation of the factory was approved.

On the other hand, District 9 Municipality issued construction operation permit in 1968-1969. In the same direction, the exploitation permit number of the factory was issued in 1973 by the Ministry of Industries and Mines.

The construction operations include Production Building as large as 350 square meters, 20-sq.m Administrative Department and 20-sq.m Services Department. The German and Russian-made equipment and machinery were purchased according to the state-of-the-art technology and installed at the production hall of the factory. Generally, the production process was developed remarkably. The number of personnel increased from 3-4 to 10.

The variety of products, ranging from pearl barley, pearl wheat to semolina for preparing porridge to improve children's growth, was added to the production as well.

Under such circumstance, the ministries of Industries and Health requested production units to observe more criteria for producing foodstuff, each of which put forward specific rules and regulations for continuation of business activity of these units. All extant problems in this regard were settled by the production activists.

After the glorious victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1978, specific limitations were imposed for importing products and machinery into the country and "Barley" brand name was changed necessarily and the original word "Tarkhineh" was replaced with the previous brand name "Barley".

Some of old equipment and machinery were decommissioned from production cycle and were replaced with the new Iranian-made equipment and machinery.

Naturally, production volume was decreased at the early years of the Islamic Revolution.

Strategy of increasing new products and completing food basket was taken into consideration to increase production volume, based on which, flaked barley, flaked wheat and breadcrumbs were added to the products of Tarkhineh.

Employment and production affair was placed at the satisfactory level again with the addition of these products and the number of personnel hit 25.

Accordingly, motto of Tarkhineh entitled "Familiar with Families" was known comprehensively.

Until the said date, total production unit was run as legal entity. With the coordination made in this regard in 1994, necessary steps were taken to register the company named "Tarkhineh" as private joint stock company with 50,000,000 rials capital.

Presently, Tarkhineh Company, regarded as one of top brands in food industries with the registered capital equal to 1,500,000,000 rials, is located on a land area as large as 3,000-sq.m, which benefits from approx. 170 personnel and produces and packs approx. 30 items of goods (primarily from family of cereals and grains).
